Vibrational and fatigue resistant, ultra-thin and ultra-light material
High-temperature Resistant and Ultra-thin Electrically Insulating Barrier
When a battery cell overheats, conductive gases are released. Electrical arcing may ignite these gases, causing further overheating in adjacent cells. Preventing electrical arcing at the onset of Thermal Propagation (TP) is therefore crucial for protecting the battery, the vehicle, and ensuring occupant safety. Effective insulation halts the formation of high-energy arcs between components with different high-voltage potentials, eliminating a critical source of TP.
Oerlikon's TX700 High-Voltage Arcing Protection creates an electrically insulating barrier between HV components. It efficiently insulates top or bottom battery covers, cells, and modules. The ultra-thin, flexible, and non-brittle material provides robust arcing protection up to 1000 °C at just 0.2 mm thickness. 3D-formable, it integrates easily even into demanding module profiles, enabling compact, optimized battery assemblies with minimal insulation clearance. This also makes TX700 ideal for retrofitting existing systems.
As with all Oerlikon thermoelectric insulation solutions, TX700 complies with the strictest battery safety regulations and is ESG-compliant (mica-free and non-petroleum-based).
